World Egg Day 2024 Celebrated at UVAS Pattoki Campus with Seminar & Awareness Walk

The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Pattoki Campus, marked World Egg Day 2024 with an engaging seminar and awareness walk aimed at promoting the nutritional importance of eggs. The event was attended by representatives of the Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA), including Chairman Mr. Abdul Basit, along with faculty members, students, and industry professionals.

The celebration featured a variety of activities such as seminars, awareness walks, egg model-making competitions, cooking contests, and student presentations, all highlighting the value of eggs as a vital, affordable source of protein for human growth and health.

Addressing the audience, Mr. Abdul Basit emphasized the poultry industry’s key role in Pakistan’s economy, contributing 40% of total meat consumption and providing employment to approximately 1.5 million people. He also clarified common misconceptions about poultry production, stating that no steroids are used in poultry feed and that improvements in poultry growth are driven by genetic advancements.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus encouraged students to actively use social media to spread awareness and counter misinformation regarding poultry products. The event concluded with the distribution of gifts among competition winners, celebrating both knowledge and participation.
